ESPN's Jordan Reid releases new 2-round mock draft

With the Combine in the books, mock draft season is starting to heat up.

The latest to release their projections isESPN's Jordan Reid, who came out with a new, two-round mock draft this week.

With the fifth overall pick, Reid has the Giants selecting Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles.

"The last time an off-ball linebacker was picked in the top five was 2019, when the Buccaneers took Devin White," wrote Reid. "So while it's rare, Styles' skill set pairs really well with the defense coach John Harbaugh will likely bring to the Giants. Styles dazzled at the combine and can be the boisterous presence that Harbaugh's Ravens teams often had at middle linebacker. The 6-foot-5, 243-pound defender is a converted safety who has the intangibles and potential to wear the green dot right away as a rookie."

For his first two yearts at Ohio State, Styles lined up at safety, playing 23 games across those two seasons. He then switched to linebacker in 2024, which led to his career taking off.

Styles played 16 games as a junior and finished the season with 100 total tackes (48 solo), six sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and five passes defensed. The linebacker was named second-team All-Big Ten while helping Ohio State to a National Championship.

This past season, he started 14 games and registered 82 total tackles (46 solo), one sack, 6.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one interception and three pass breakups across 14 games. His performance on the field led to him being named first-team All-American in addition to first-team All-Big Ten.

As if his on-field production wasn't enough, Styles dazzled last week at the Combine. He ran a 4.46 40-yard dash, which tied his college teammate Arvell Reese for the fastest time of any linebacker or defensive linemen this year. Meanwhile, his 43.5-inch vertical was the highest for any player 6-foot-4 or taller and any player weighing 240 or more pounds since at least 2003. Additionally, his 11-foot-2 broad jump was the best mark among the linebackers and D-linemen last Thursday and the fourth-best mark of any linebacker in the last 15 years.

According to NFL Research, Styles is the only player to run a sub-4.5 40-yard dash with a vertical of 40+ inches and a broad jump of 11+ feet while weighing at least 230 pounds since 2003. Based on purely numbers from the Combine, Styles registered as taller than Mike Evans, faster than George Pickens, quicker than Patrick Peterson, jumps higher than Davante Adams, more explosive than Derwin James Jr., and heavier than Trent Cole.

His 9.99Relative Athletic Scoreranked 4th out of 3,216 qualifying linebackers dating back to 1987.

Moving to the second round, Reid has the Giants addressing the O-line with the selection of Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor at No. 37.

"If the Giants can't re-sign right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, they could pivot to a younger option," Reid wrote. "Iheanachor makes a lot of sense here as a right tackle to protect Jaxson Dart. Iheanachor is a high-upside player who's still growing into the position after not playing football in high school."

Iheanachor spent all of his time with the Sun Devils at right tackle. After starting just five games in 2023, the lineman became a full-time starter in 2024. He allowed just two sacks and 17 total pressures on 389 pass block snaps across 14 games at Arizona State, where he blocked for running back Cam Skattebo.

The 6-foot-6, 321-pound tackle was at his best this past season, as he did not surrender a single sack while allowing just 14 total pressures on 484 pass block snaps. This led to him being named second-team All-Big 12 after the season.

Similar to Styles, Iheanachor also excelled in Indianapolis last week. His 4.91 40-yard dash was tied for the second-fastest among all offensive linemen.

Meanwhile, Iheanachor's 9.87 RASranked 20th out of 1,519qualifying offensive tackles dating back to 1987.
