Green Bay signs WR Jakobie Keeney-James, G/C Lecitus Smith to active roster

The Green Bay Packers have signed WRJakobie Keeney-Jamesand G/CLecitus Smith(luh-SEET-us) from the practice squad to the active roster, placed G/TDonovan Jenningsand WRSavion Williams(SAY-vee-on) on injured reserve, and elevated TEDrake Dabneyand LBJamon Johnson(jah-MON) from the practice squad to the active roster for gameday. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Saturday.

Keeney-James (6-0, 190), a rookie out of the University of Massachusetts, has been on the Packers' practice squad since Sept. 23. He originally signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025, and was with Detroit until being released at the end of training camp. In college, Keeney-James spent five seasons at Eastern Washington (2019-23) and one season at UMass (2024). Overall, Keeney-James played in 49 games, recording 111 receptions for 1,664 yards (15.0 avg.) and 10 touchdowns. He also carried the ball once for 6 yards and returned five kickoffs for 83 yards (16.6 avg.).

Smith (6-3, 314), a third-year player out of Virginia Tech, has spent most of the season on the Packers' practice squad and was a gameday elevation for one contest. He was also with Green Bay during this past training camp and in 2024 was with the Packers in the offseason, training camp and on the practice squad for the first six weeks of the season. In 2024, he also spent time with the New England Patriots, appearing in eight games with one start, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Smith was originally selected in the sixth round (No. 215 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He played in 10 games as a rookie for the Cardinals, opening two games at right guard. In 2023, he spent time on the practice squads of the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. Smith played in 45 games with 38 starts for the Hokies and was a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection (2019-20).
