The running back is 151 yards away from totaling the most yards from scrimmage in a single season.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Running back Bijan Robinson is on pace to finish with more scrimmage yards in a single season than any player in Atlanta Falcons history.

With two games remaining on the Falcons' schedule, Robinson has gained 2,026 yards from scrimmage. That is 150 scrimmage yards shy of Atlanta's current franchise record of 2,176 scrimmage yards, set by running back William Andrews in 1983. He'll need 151 yards in the Falcons' last two games to set a new single-season scrimmage yard record.

Robinson is averaging 135 scrimmage yards per game, putting him on pace to finish with 2,295 in 17 games. He has topped the 150-yard mark six times this season, so there's a possibility Robinson accomplishes this feat Monday night in the Falcons' Week 17 prime-time game against the Los Angeles Rams inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

"I'm going to work as hard as I can to have the best performance for the team and for everybody watching," Robinson said. "But that is pretty cool to be that close. Obviously this program has been existing for a long time, so to be able to get to lead that, it would be a blessing."

The record does indeed date back to 1966, when the Falcons were established.

Robinson is only 23 years old and in his third professional season. Andrews was 26 but also in his third season when he set the benchmark that has lasted 42 years. Andrews, a four-time Pro Bowler, played six memorable seasons for the Falcons before retiring in 1987 due in large part to injuries. Williams set 19 franchise records before his career ended andwas an inaugural memberof the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor in 2004.

The Falcons drafted Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick in 2023. He totaled 1,463 scrimmage yards as a rookie and 1,887 last year. The past two seasons saw Robinson rely more so on the run than pass with 979 rushing yards vs. 487 receiving yards in 2023 and 1,456 rushing yards vs. 431 receiving yards in 2024. This season, he has been a much bigger asset in the passing game, while continuing to be a force running the ball. He has 1,250 rushing yards and 776 receiving yards.

"He's having a tremendous season," Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said. "Obviously, we've talked about him so much at length, just what he means to our team, and obviously everything is built around him, and he handles everything week-to-week so well. We put him in a number of different locations and just become a really complete player mentally, physically."

Bijan Robinson has scored six touchdowns on the ground and three through the air. His nine touchdowns total lead the team.

"Any time we can get the ball in his hands," Zac Robinson said, "you feel like something good's going to happen."

He'll make something happen.

According to TrueMedia, Bijan Robinson has picked up 788 receiving yards after the catch, which is the most in the NFL. He has gained 1,008 rushing yards after contact, which is third most.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris has been coaching football in some capacity since 1998. He praises Robinson on a regular basis, even calling him the best player in the league at the moment. Otherwise, Morris likened Robinson to players such as wide receiver Cooper Kupp, wide receiver Julio Jones, defensive lineman Aaron Donald and linebacker Derrick Brooks. Not only because of their talents, but also personality and work ethic.

"He's is one of the easiest people to be around," Morris said. "He's one of the best people we know for both on the field and off the field. His character screams excellence. If you define the Falcon, he's exactly what you want everybody to be."

Robinson has already inked his name in the Falcons' record books. He has the chance, however, to be No. 1 in such an all-around way in 2025 with his total yards from scrimmage. There are two games left for him to do so, starting with Monday's contest versus a Rams defense that ranks second in yards allowed.

Suffice to say, 151 scrimmage yards would be quite the accomplishment in terms of the matchup and big picture for Robinson.

"I don't even know how close he is to the record," Morris said. "That's not something he talks to me about. That's not something we really talk about. He just talks about finding ways to help his team get wins.

"Obviously, B is special."
