The San Francisco 49ers showed fight until the final whistle but came up short in a 42-26 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Despite the outcome, several bright spots stood out. Week 10 saw another strong outing from quarterback Mac Jones, continued production from the team's offense, and impact moments on special teams and defense. Here are five takeaways from the Week 10 contest:
Jones Delivers in a Gritty Game
Jones turned in another efficient performance, completing 33 of 39 passes (84.6 percent) for 319 yards, three touchdowns, and a 115.7 passer rating. He showcased resilience throughout the game, leading multiple scoring drives and connecting with nine different receivers. Even with early adversity, Jones' accuracy and poise kept San Francisco competitive deep into the second half.
Kittle Sparks the Offense
Tight endGeorge Kittlewas a key figure that fired up the offense, converting key first downs and diving for a score in the fourth quarter. He helped move the chains during multiple scoring series, including a 20-yard catch that set up the 49ers first touchdown and a 13-yard touchdown grab late in the game. Kittle finished as one of the team's most reliable playmakers with 84 yards and reeling in all nine of his targets.
Robinson Jr. Finds the End Zone Again
Running backBrian Robinson Jr.powered through defenders for a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter, his second score in two weeks. Robinson Jr. was physical in short-yardage situations and gave the 49ers a spark out of the backfield with several chain-moving runs, including a 13-yard gain that helped set up his touchdown.
Defense Delivers Timely Stops
San Francisco's defense found a way to slow the Rams in moments of the game. In the second quarter,C.J. West,Tatum Bethune, andRobert Beal Jr.combined for a sequence of stops inside the red zone that forced a punt. On the following drive, defensive linemenKalia DavisandKeion Whitesplit a sack on Matthew Stafford to end another Rams possession. Linebackers Bethune andDee Winterswere once again all over the field. Bethune led the team with 10 tackles and a tackle for loss, while Winters added eight tackles, two quarterback hits, and another TFL.Bryce Huffalso generated steady pressure with three QB hits.
Special Teams Impact the Field Position Battle
Special teams delivered timely plays that swung momentum.Skyy Moore's 27-yard punt return into Rams territory set up favorable field position for the offense, while punterThomas Morsteadpinned Los Angeles inside its own 20-yard line twice.Eddy Pieiromade two extra points, though one was blocked, to round out a solid day for the unit that kept the 49ers in control of field position.
After a quick stop at home to face the Rams, the 49ers are back on the road for another divisional matchup, this time against the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers-Cardinals rematch is set for Week 11 on November 16.
