The Washington Capitals acquired Anthony Mantha from the Detroit Red Wings on Monday in exchange for fellow forwards Jakub Vrana and Richard Panik, a first-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft and a second-round selection in 2022.

The Capitals also acquired forward Michael Raffl from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a fifth-round pick. Raffl won't have long to wait to see his former team as the Capitals host the Flyers on Tuesday.

Mantha, 26, has recorded 21 points (team-leading 11 goals, 10 assists) in 42 games in 2020-21 while playing in the first season of a four-year, $22.8 million contract.

The 6-foot-5, 234-pounder has collected 194 points (95 goals, 99 assists) in 302 career games since being selected by the Red Wings with the 20th overall pick of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Vrana, 25, has 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 36 games this season. He has accumulated 157 points (76 goals, 81 assists) in 284 career games since being selected by the Capitals with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Panik, 30, has recorded nine points (three goals, six assists) in 36 games this season. He has totaled 190 points (87 goals, 103 assists) in 505 career games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes and Capitals.

Raffl, 32, is a pending unrestricted free agent. He has eight points (three goals, five assists) in 34 games this season and 160 points (81 goals, 79 assists) in 504 career contests -- all with the Flyers.
